WUHAN, China- Head coach Drew Johansen announced David Dinsmore (New Albany, Ohio/Miami, Fla.) and Krysta Palmer (Carson City, Nev./Reno, Nev.) will represent Team USA in the team event at the FINA Diving World Cup on June 4.
Dinsmore and Palmer won the bronze medal together in the same event last summer at the FINA World Championships in Budapest, Hungary.
“I wanted to give them a chance to defend their medal,” Johansen said. “We had a number of options to choose from with some new people on the team. Krysta and David are proven performers, and we would like them to start us off with a great event on day one.”
The team event involves two divers - one male and one female - who will perform three dives apiece to represent each of the six groups of dives. Dinsmore and Palmer must each execute at least one dive from the 3-meter and one from the 10-meter. Both divers also are required to do one dive with a degree of difficulty of 2.0.
“Both David and I competed in the team event at the 2017 World Championships and together we earned bronze medals,” Palmer said. “I think we have an advantage because we've participated in this event before, doing the same list of dives, and they are strong dives for both of us.”
“I think we can do well this year,” Dinsmore added. “We both are very positive when working together and we keep each other’s morale up while in competition. I think that can definitely help us while competing.”
Dinsmore and Palmer’s team event will be broadcast live on Monday, June 4, at 4:30 a.m. ET on the Olympic Channel: Home of Team USA. The World Cup will be available through broadcasts and streaming on NBCSN, the Olympic Channel, NBCSports.com and the NBC Sports app.
