2016 Olympian Kassidy Cook (The Woodlands, Texas/Stanford, Calif.) has withdrawn from next month’s FINA World Championships due to a shoulder injury.

The World Championships will be held July 14-30 in Budapest, Hungary, with diving events scheduled for July 14-22.

Cook was to dive in the synchronized 3-meter contest with Maria Coburn (Round Rock, Texas) but now will not make the trip to Budapest.

USA Diving’s high performance director and world championships coaching staff will evaluate Coburn  and the other women’s springboard divers on the team to determine if another viable synchronized pairing can be made or if the U.S. will enter the event.

Coburn will compete at least one event in Budapest as she was also selected to dive in the individual 1-meter contest after winning that event at USA Diving’s 2016 Winter National Championships.

Alison Gibson (Austin, Texas), Krysta Palmer (Carson City, Nev.), Lauren Reedy (Rochester Hills, Mich./Columbia, Mo.) and Brooke Schultz (Fayetteville, Ark.) are the other springboard divers on the team. Schultz and Palmer are slated to compete in the individual 3-meter event, with Gibson set to join Coburn in the individual 1-meter event. Reedy will dive in the mixed synchronized 3-meter event.
