Ariel Rittenhouse, a 2008 Olympian, has been elected as USA Diving’s Athletes’ Advisory Council (AAC) representative for 2017-2020. She will replace Cassandra Metzler, who has served as USA Diving’s AAC rep since 2013.
Athletes who have represented the United States at an Olympic Games, World Championships, Pan American Games or World Cup (in non-Olympic years) in the past 10 years are eligible to serve as and vote for the position of AAC representative.
The AAC is a made up of one athlete representative per Pan-American, Olympic and Paralympic sport. This council works with the United States Olympic Committee (USOC) and acts as one of the liaisons between National Governing Bodies, athletes, and the USOC. The job of an AAC representative is to protect athletes' rights and to represent all Elite athletes in the many different matters that may impact them as they try to perform on the highest level.
Within USA Diving, the AAC representative has a seat on the Board of Directors and is part of the Committee for Competitive Excellence (CCE).
Amy Cozad Magana, a 2016 Olympian, was voted as the alternate AAC rep for the 2017-2020.
