INDIANAPOLIS-USA Diving has selected 12 divers to represent the U.S. at the February 19-24 FINA Diving World Cup in Beijing. The roster includes 2007 World Championship bronze medalists David Boudia (Noblesville, Ind.) and Thomas Finchum (Indianapolis), 2000 Olympic gold medalist Laura Wilkinson (Spring, Texas) and 2000 and 2004 Olympian Troy Dumais (Ventura, Calif.). The World Cup will serve as an Olympic qualifying competition. The U.S. will be looking to earn another six Olympic spots, having already secured six spots at the 2007 World Championships. For the women, the U.S. needs to earn spots in both synchronized events and has one spot to fill on 10-meter. The men have already secured Olympic berths in both synchronized events but are still seeking two spots individually on 10-meter and one spot on 3-meter. In synchronized events, the top four World Cup finishers whose countries have not already earned spots will qualify for the Olympic Games. Individually, the top 18 divers at the World Cup will qualify their countries for Olympic berths, unless that country has already filled its maximum two spots or that diver already earned a spot for his country. Four of the 12 divers selected to the roster will compete on two events. Boudia and Finchum will dive on 10-meter and synchronized 10-meter. Haley Ishimatsu (Seal Beach, Calif.) will dive individually on 10-meter and pair with Mary Beth Dunnichay (Elwood, Ind.) in synchronized 10-meter, and Chris Colwill (Brandon, Fla.) will compete on 3-meter and synchronized 3-meter with Jevon Tarantino (Boca Raton, Fla.). Wilkinson will compete on 10-meter, and Dumais on 3-meter. Rounding out the team are Kelci Bryant (Chatham, Ill.) and Ariel Rittenhouse (Santa Cruz, Calif.), who will compete in synchronized 3-meter, and Cassidy Krug (Coraopolis, Pa.) and Christina Loukas (Riverwoods, Ill.) on women's 3-meter.
