DIVING: World's top divers headed to Fort Lauderdale May 8-11 for AT,T USA Diving Grand Prix

WHAT: In preparation for the upcoming Olympic Games, many of the world's best divers will be in Fort Lauderdale from May 8-11 for the AT,T USA Diving Grand Prix at the Fort Lauderdale Aquatic Complex (501 Seabreeze Blvd., Ft. Lauderdale, FL 33316). The AT,T USA Diving Grand Prix is the sole U.S. leg on the seven-country FINA (Federation Internationale de Natation) Grand Prix tour. Competition will be conducted in four events for both men and women: 3-meter springboard, 10-meter platform, 3-meter synchronized springboard and 10-meter synchronized platform. The Fort Lauderdale Diving Team and the Fort Lauderdale Aquatic Complex along with USA Diving are hosting the event. WHO: Now in its 38th year, the USA Grand Prix competition is one of the most prestigious diving events in the world and regularly draws top international athletes, Olympic and World champions. More than 100 divers from the following countries are expected to participate: Australia, Austria, Brazil, Canada, Chile, China, Colombia, France, Germany, Great Britain, Hungary, Italy, Japan, Lithuania, Macau, Malaysia, Mexico, The Netherlands, Norway, The Philippines, Russia, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, Ukraine and USA. A list of participating athletes from other countries will be available as the event draws closer. Previous competitions have featured Olympic champions Greg Louganis, Laura Wilkinson, Mark Lenzi, Fu Mingxia, Guo Jingjing and Dmitry Sautin.
