Curling in the Gym

The Curling in the Gym program, which was made possible through a P&G/Team USA Youth Sports Fund Grant, is designed to expand knowledge of and access to the sport of curling while increasing physical activity in elementary school children. Curling in the Gym includes all materials and equipment needed for a physical education teacher or community program leader to introduce curling to children without the need for access to an ice arena.

Each kit includes:

  •  2 sets of FloorCurl™ rolling “stones” (4 red and 4 blue in each set)
  •  2 target mats
  •  10 kid-sized curling brooms (5 for each FloorCurl™ set) and carrying case
  •  2 pusher sticks (delivery aids for youth with physical challenges)
  •  Instructor manual

With an 8-10 session lesson guide developed by the company that brought the Rocks & Rings program to Canada, program coordinators do not need prior experience with the sport. Drills, relays, and team-building activities help youth learn about curling, while remaining active and interested.

Organizations can borrow the equipment for free, but are responsible for the cost of shipping. To reserve equipment, contact Christy Hering, Development Associate, at christy.hering@usacurl.org or click the link to the online reservation form.
