USA Curling is excited to announce that there will be six mixed doubles teams in the High Performance Program this upcoming season.
The first three teams to be named to the program are:
- Dropkin/Anderson (Korey Dropkin and Sarah Anderson)
- Christensen/Shuster (Cory Christensen and John Shuster)
- Polo/Peterson (Joe Polo and Tabitha Peterson)
These teams placed in the top three at the 2020 US Mixed Doubles Curling National Championships, qualifying them for a spot in the 2022 Olympic Trials.
“It feels great to have qualified and now be able to focus on the fine tuning of our game so that we can be at our best when it comes time for the trials,” Christensen said. “It also gives us a boost of confidence heading into next year.”
In addition to their recent qualifications, these teams have proven to be dominant forces in the game of mixed doubles.
Polo/Peterson are the reigning national champions and were set to represent the United States at the 2020 Mixed Doubles Curling World Championships in Kelowna, Canada. Dropkin/Anderson currently sit as the number four ranked team in the world, and Christensen/Shuster were silver medalists at the 2018 Olympic Trials, 2019 national champions and 2019 world bronze medalists.
The final three mixed doubles teams will be announced in the coming days.
