March 13, 2020, 5:04 p.m. (ET)

STEVENS POINT, Wis.—-USA Curling has postponed the following events amid COVID19 concerns:

  • Mixed Nationals, March 28-April 4 in Chaska, Minn.
  • Paralympic Curling Pre-Trials, April 16-17 in Denver, Colo.
  • Arena National Championships, April 27-May 2 in Gillette, Wyo.

Details about May camps will be announced later, as will logistics and the possible rescheduling of these events.

“The health and well-being of our athletes and the curling community is our top concern,” said Jeff Plush, CEO of USA Curling. “We continue to receive new information prompting us to make unprecedented decisions; none of which have been taken lightly.”

In addition, Plush urges member clubs to postpone upcoming events.

“We encourage the leaders of our clubs to cancel or postpone competitions and events to protect our community,” said Plush. “We realize these disruptions are disappointing, but the seriousness of this evolving situation must be considered. We appreciate the community’s cooperation during this challenging time.”

As USA Curling leadership monitors this rapidly changing public health crisis, the organization continues to consult with medical professionals, health officials and the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Committee. Finally, we recommend membership to seek the guidance of their local health authorities as this is a fluid issue being handled in different locations based on differing risk factors.
