March 12, 2020, 12:57 p.m. (ET)

STEVENS POINT, Wis.—USA Curling has postponed the USA Curling College Championship scheduled for March 13-15 in Fargo, N.D. and the 2020 U-18 National Championships in Wausau, Wis., March 17-22, over concerns about the COVID-19 virus.

“Our priority is the health and well-being of our athletes, coaches and staff,” said Jeff Plush, CEO of USA Curling.  “It is our responsibility to participate in the social distancing component of the effort around containing the virus.”

As for upcoming tournaments, Plush said the organization will continue to monitor the situation and continue to take direction from medical professionals, public health officials and the USOPC.

“While we understand the disappointment of not being able to compete, protecting our curling family including volunteers, spectators and those who work in these venues is critical,” said Plush.

The possible rescheduling of the events will be announced at a later date.
