Mixed doubles pairings announced for Winter Youth Olympic Games
(STEVENS POINT, Wis.) – Medal hopes are back on the line for Ethan Hebert and Team USA at the Winter Youth Olympic Games Lausanne 2020.
The mixed doubles portion of the competition will begin Saturday at the Champery Curling Arena in Champery, Switzerland. All athletes have been paired with someone from another country with Youth Olympic medals up for grabs.
USA skip Ethan Hebert (Lowell, Mass.) will take the ice with Swiss partner Malin Da Ros at 2 p.m. Saturday against the Latvia/New Zealand duo of Anna Lasmane and William Becker. The 6 p.m. draw will then feature Team USA’s Kaitlin Murphy (Fairview Park, Ohio) and Canada’s Jaedon Neuert taking on the Great Britain/Turkey team of Hannah Farries and Kadir Polat.
On Sunday at 10 a.m., USA’s Alina Tschumakow (West Roxbury, Mass.) and partner Francesco De Zanna of Italy will battle the Korea/Polish duo of Youbeen Park and Robert Kaminski. Charlie Thompson (Eau Claire, Wis.) will then take the ice in the night session at 6 p.m. with German partner Kim Sutor. They will compete against the France/Norway tandem of Maelle Vergnaud and Grunde Buraas.
U.S. Coach John Benton, a 2010 Olympian, will coach the matches for Murphy and Thompson. The Round of 48 will be followed by the winning teams moving on to the next stage of competition on Monday as the field eventually gets narrowed to the final four. Semifinals will take place on Wednesday morning followed by the medal games later that afternoon. Visit www.worldcurling.org for scores and updates.

About the event:
Curling at the Youth Olympic Games 2020 is made up of two events. There is a mixed team competition for 24 National Olympic Committees. Each team must consist of two female and two male athletes, all of whom have been born between Jan. 1, 2002 and Dec. 31, 2005. After the team event, athletes are put into 48 mixed doubles pairs with different nations competing together.
