Roth and Ruohonen rinks win US Open titles

The Nina Roth and Rich Ruohonen rinks captured the Beyer & Simonson US Open of Curling Championships on Sunday at the Four Seasons CC. 

Roth and teammates Tabitha Peterson, Becca Hamilton and Tara Peterson defeated 2006 Olympian Cassie Potter in the final to finish with a perfect 6-0 record. Ruohonen and his team of Greg Persinger, Colin Hufman, Phil Tilker and Kroy Nernberger defeated Korey Dropkin's squad in the men's final to end the successful weekend with a 6-1 record. 

Other USA Curling High Performance Program teams competing included Luc Violette (4-3, semifinals) and women's teams skipped by Madison Bear (2-2), Cora Farrell (1-3) and Susan Dudt (0-4).
