2020 Winter Youth Olympic Games Trials continue in Denver


(STEVENS POINT, Wis.) – Day two of the 2020 U.S. Youth Olympic Team Trials for Curling wrapped up today with four teams still perfect in Golden, Colo.


Coleman Thurston (Poynette, Wis.) and Kevin Tuma (St. Paul, Minn.) continue to lead Pool A as they secured two more wins today in round robin competition at the Denver Curling Club. Thurston’s team earned a 7-5 victory over Allison Tan’s Seattle team and an 8-5 triumph over Connor Kauffman’s team from Washington. Tuma’s rink was victorious over Kauffman, 6-5, and balanced the day with an 11-2 win over Maxwell Salander’s Illinois squad.


Ethan Hebert (Lowell, Mass.) and Wes Wendling (Wausau, Wis.) are knotted with 2-0 records in Pool B. Wendling’s Wisconsin rink was idle on opening day but got off to a solid start on day two with wins over Ryan Jamieson’s team, 9-7, and Andrea McDonald’s foursome, 8-1. The round robin continues on Saturday with three draws of competition at 10 a.m., 2:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. MT. Live scores and a live webstream are available at www.usacurl.org.

About the Winter Youth Olympic Games:


The 2020 Winter Youth Olympic Games (WYOG) will take place Jan. 10-22 in Lausanne, Switzerland, and mark the third time that curling is contested. Twenty-four countries will compete in the mixed curling portion and then 48 teams will battle for medals in mixed doubles at Champéry Curling Arena in Champery, Switzerland.
