USA slips to 1-3 in Finland

(STEVENS POINT, Wis.) – Team USA needs to get back into the win column to have a shot at the playoffs of the World Wheelchair B Curling Championship after suffering another loss today in Lohja, Finland.

Steve Emt and the Toyota USA Curling National Team are now 1-3 in the round robin after falling to Germany’s Christiane Putzich rink, 12-0, today at Kisakallio Sports Institute.

Emt (Hebron, Conn.) and his team of Matthew Thums (Weston, Wis.), David Samsa (Suamico, Wis.), Meghan Lino (East Falmouth, Mass.), and alternate Pam Wilson (Westminster, Colo.) got off to a rocky start as Germany scored in the first three ends to build an 8-0 lead. The U.S. couldn’t get a feel for the ice today as the Germans would steal the next three ends in the lopsided victory over the U.S.

The U.S. needs to finish in the top three to earn back a spot in the upcoming World Wheelchair Championship. They return to the ice on Saturday with two games on the schedule as they face Slovenia in the morning and England in the afternoon draw.
