Round robin coming to a close at 2019 Mixed National Championship

(STEVENS POINT, Wis.) – The final day of the round robin is shaping up to be an exciting finish with many of the top teams set to battle one another with playoff berths on the line at the 2019 USA Curling Mixed National Championship in Golden, Colo.

Three teams are tied for first place with 6-1 records – Evan Workin’s Dakota Territory team, Caitlin Pulli’s Grand National rink and Sean Murray’s squad from the Great Lakes region. With three sessions left on the schedule today at 10 a.m., 2:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. MT, the top four teams at the conclusion of the round robin will advance to Friday’s semifinals.

Hunter Clawson’s Grand national team is fully in the mix with a 5-2 record while two teams at 4-3 – Wisconsin’s Ben Richardson and Mid-America’s Aaron Johnston – need to win out in hopes of getting tiebreaker games to extend their visits at the Denver Curling Club.

Murray (St. Paul, Minn.) and his team of Stephanie Senneker (Port Huron, Mich.), Dan Wiza (Waunakee, Wis.), and Emilia Juocys (Lathrup Village, Mich.) secured two wins on Wednesday to reach the 6-1 mark after defeating Olympic champion Tyler George and Clawson’s rink yesterday. Pulli’s team got past Washington’s Thomas Lee rink, 7-2, in the afternoon session. Workin’s defending champs played in the morning draw when they defeated Johnston’s rink, 8-1. Workin and Murray will meet today.
