Semifinalists determined at 2019 U18 National Championships


(STEVENS POINT, Wis.) – The road to the final four is complete with playoff tickets being punched at the 2019 USA Curling U18 National Championships in Chaska, Minn.


Delaney Strouse’s Great Lakes team (4-1) won Pool A and will take on Susan Dudt’s squad (4-1) from the Grand National region while Wisconsin’s Samantha Jones (4-1) will battle Minnesota’s Sara Olson (5-0) in today’s semi-finals. Olson’s team is the lone undefeated women’s team after defeating Dudt in the final session of the round robin.


In the boys division, undefeated Wes Wendling of Wisconsin (5-0) will face Ethan Hebert’s Grand National rink (4-1) while Minnesota’s Kevin Tuma (5-0) is set to take the ice against Danny Casper’s team (4-1), which also represents the Grand National region.


The semifinals will all take place at 8 a.m. CT today followed by the medal games at noon. Follow along at

Trophies and awards:

Trophies for the competition were donated by the family of the late Chris Moore, who served as president of USA Curling’s board of directors in 2008-09. Winners of the competition will represent the U.S. at the upcoming U18 Players Championship March 29-31 in Ontario. Funds from the Chris Moore Legacy Fund also help support Team USA at this international competition. At the conclusion of the event, the recipient of the Garland Legacie Spirit of Curling Award will be selected.
