2019-20 Junior National Qualifier System

This year’s Junior National Championship will be held January 12 through 18, 2020, in Eau Claire Wisconsin.  The field of eight teams will be determined by a berth qualifier system which will select six teams, and the HPP junior teams will fill the last two spots. These qualifiers are placed in areas where high concentrations of junior curlers reside to mitigate travel costs, to allow for the greatest number of teams to compete at multiple events, and to determine the nation’s best junior teams.

Here is how the system works:

Step 1

Step 2

  • Register your team for the qualifier of your choice.
  • There will be a team entry fee collected by the club to cover the cost to run the event.

  • The qualifiers are set to allow teams to play in multiple qualifiers, until they secure a Junior National berth.
  • Teams do not have to consist of the same players for every qualifier. If after playing in one, you wish to enter a different team in the next, that’s allowable.
  • Once your team has secured a berth, the line-up is set and you are ineligible to play in subsequent qualifiers.
  • Entry deadlines for each qualifier are set approximately two weeks prior to the event in order to give the draw master time to create the draw.
  • All teams are required to have a coach who has completed the SafeSport course and a background check and registered ten business days in advance of the qualifier deadline.
  • All participants must register and pay the USCA registration fee prior to playing in their first qualifier.
  • Games will be eight ends with one time-out per game.
  • Three qualifier events will be held, each with two spots available per gender. A minimum of three teams per gender must be entered in a qualifier in order for the qualifier to advance two teams per gender. If less than three teams of a gender register, only one spot will be available.
  • All unused spots will go to qualifier #3.
