USA women earn big win over Austria

USA women get back in win column in Finland


(STEVENS POINT, Wis.) – A huge second end propelled Team USA to a 9-1 victory today over Austria in round robin competition at the 2020 World Junior B Championships in Lohja, Finland.


Cora Farrell (Fairbanks, Alaska) and her team of Leah Yavarow (Bemidji, Minn.), Cait Flannery (Mankato, Minn.), Allison Howell (Solon, Ohio), and Rebecca Miles (Duluth, Minn.) made a takeout to score six points in the second end and limited the offense of Sara Haidinger’s Austrian team to improve to 2-1 in Group A at Kisakallio Sports Institute.


The U.S. ladies have two round games left against Turkey (2-1) and Spain (0-3). The top two teams in each of the three groups as well as the best two third-ranked teams will advance to Tuesday’s playoffs. The top three teams at the end of the competition will earn berths to the 2020 World Junior Championships in February in Siberia.
