Sinnett rink advances to another junior event final

(STEVENS POINT, Wis.) – Chase Sinnett’s Junior High Performance Program team advanced to the final of the Sun Life Financial Junior Challenge on Sunday in Brandon, Manitoba, to mark the rink’s fourth trip to an event final this season.

Sinnett (Medfield, Mass.) and teammates Trevor Marquardt (Poynette, Wis.), Jon Harstad (Duluth, Minn.), and Eli Clawson (Clarksville, Md.) made it to the championship final before losing to Jordon McDonald’s team from Winnipeg, 9-3. The Sinnett rink finished with a 5-2 record while McDonald finished undefeated. Two other U.S. junior teams – the Abbey Kitchens and Skyler Slusar rinks – also advanced to the playoffs. Cait Flannery’s junior HPP team made it to the final of the consolation bracket.

Annmarie Dubberstein’s junior team competed in the women’s Red Deer Curling Classic in Red Deer, Alberta, and finished with a 2-3 record.

The on-ice focus this week turns to the Twin Ports Mixed Doubles event in Duluth, Minn., where a berth to the 2019 USA Curling Mixed Doubles National Championship is up for grabs – along with the event title and prize money, of course.
