2019 U.S. Mixed Doubles National Championship Qualification Update

A few weeks ago the qualification system for the 2019 U.S. Mixed Doubles National Championships was announced, which included the following criteria:

  • The top two eligible USA teams not already qualified will qualify on WCT Order of Merit rankings as of Nov. 30, 2018*
  • The top two eligible USA teams not already qualified will qualify on WCT Order of Merit Year-to-Date rankings as of Nov. 30, 2018

*This Order of Merit ranking includes the previous season and the current season.

Prior to this announcement, the USCA had been informed by the World Curling Tour (WCT) that both of these rankings would be available this season. Unfortunately, WCT administrators have now stated that they are unable to update their ranking system incorporating last season’s results in time for keeping a rolling, two-season, Order of Merit updated this season. They still plan to build this out in time for next season.

After consultation with the USCA Athletes Advisory Council, it has been decided that the top four (instead of top two) eligible USA teams not already qualified as of Nov. 30, 2018, will qualify for the 2019 USA Curling Mixed Doubles Championship on the WCT’s Year-to-Date order of merit, which will be available on the WCT website.
