Dakota Curling Club to host 2019 Club National Championships

(STEVENS POINT, Wis.) – On the heels of a successful hosting of the 2018 Mixed National Championship, the Dakota Curling Club in Lakeville, Minn., will host the 2019 USA Curling Club National Championships in March.

The 20-team national competition, which began in 2005, features rinks from across the U.S. that qualify via regional competitions. The event will take place March 9-16 at the six-sheet club.

“Our experience hosting Mixed Nationals last year was so positive that our entire club is very enthusiastic about hosting Club Nationals next season,” said Darcy Ellarby, Special Events Coordinator for Dakota Curling Club. “Through hosting last year, we learned a lot about building championship ice and event officiating.  In addition, the event helped the club strengthen our volunteer base and was a welcome revenue source as well. We look forward to welcoming teams from across the U.S. at Club Nationals in April!”

The Dakota Curling Club opened in January 2017 and has quickly grown in size as the sport continues to grow nationwide.

The Club Nationals feature a round robin followed by two days of playoffs. The 2018 event took place in Brainerd, Minn., in February with teams from Seattle and Madison, Wis., capturing the men’s and women’s titles respectively.

USA Curling is sponsored by AtomOS, Nike, Brooms Up Curling Supplies, Cheetos, CryoMAX 8-Hour Cold Pack, Sitrin, The RAM Restaurant & Brewery, Thorne, BalancePlus, ISS (Ice, Sports & Solar), and Brakebush, and is partnered with Laurie Artiss Ltd. – The Pin People, United Airlines, 12th End Sports Network, IHG, and CurlingZone.
