USA Curling announces hiring of new development associate

(STEVENS POINT, Wis.) – The United States Curling Association (USCA) is proud to announce the hiring of Shane Stein (Wisconsin Rapids, Wis.) as the new development associate at its national office in Stevens Point, Wis.

Stein steps into the role as longtime employee Christy Hering (Wausau, Wis.) departs after nine years with the association. As development associate, Stein will work primarily with Kim Nawyn, the organization’s Director of Growth & Development, to support the organization’s growing number of member-focused programs, including Curling in the Gym, SafeSport, Sport Education, and many more. In addition, Stein will assist with championships and other projects throughout the organization.

“We are very happy to welcome Shane to the USA Curling team,” Nawyn said. “Shane has a strong customer-service orientation, positive attitude, and experience dealing with competing priorities in a high-pressure environment. We have no doubt that he will continue the high level of service that our members have come to expect from the staff at the national office.”

A graduate of Mid-State Technical College with an associate’s degree in applied science-administrative professional, Stein arrives to the USCA with a multitude of customer-service experience. He also earned technical diplomas as an office support specialist and customer relationship professional.

Stein began his work with the USCA on May 26 and previously worked as a human resources assistant at Renaissance Learning, Inc.

“I look forward to both creating and maintaining positive relationships between our organization and the various members and clubs throughout the country. I also can’t wait to immerse myself in the history and culture that runs deep within the sport. I know I have a lot to learn!” Stein said.

The U.S. Curling Association office is headquartered in Stevens Point, Wis., and is the national governing body for the Olympic sport of curling and Paralympic sport of wheelchair curling. The association has seven full-time staff members at the Wisconsin office in addition to the High Performance Program staff and controller position.
