Ice Line set to host 2019 Arena National Championships

(STEVENS POINT, Wis.) – For the second time in four seasons the Ice Line Quad Rinks in West Chester, Pa., will host the USA Curling Arena National Championships.

“On behalf of Ice Line, we are thrilled and proud to host the 2019 USA Curling Arena Nationals. This will be our second time hosting the event,” said Jim Binns, general manager, Ice Line. “The 2016 Arena Nationals were the first time Ice Line hosted a non-skating event since our opening in 1994. We were so excited then to try something new and open our customer base to the sport of curling. Since that time, we have added the Goal Line Pub, a full-service restaurant and bar overlooking the Tower Health/Brandywine Hospital - Premier Orthopaedics Arena, which is the arena being used in May of 2019. This addition will add to the overall experience for the athletes as well as provide a place for broomstacking after each game. Our hope is to use this event to further promote the sport and form our own curling club.”

The venue in West Chester, Pa., will host 20 men’s and 15 women’s teams May 5-11 to determine the top men’s and women’s teams that compete in arena facilities versus traditional curling-only rinks. The event, which began in 2013, will feature a preliminary round robin with playoffs to follow to determine the medalists.

“Chester County, Pa., and the entire staff at the Chester County Conference & Visitors Bureau are honored once again to host the USA Curling Arena National Championships,” said Travis Geiser, sports and events sales manager for Chester County Convention & Visitors Bureau. “We look forward to welcoming everyone to Ice Line and downtown West Chester, Pa., to shop and dine at one of the country’s best main streets! With the additions that Ice Line has made to its facility along with the continued commitment of the Jersey Pinelands Curling Club, I have no doubt that the 2019 championships will provide a fantastic experience for the participants and their families.”

Clubs were selected to compete and were announced last month. The Jersey Pinelands Curling Club is serving as the host club for the event once again.

“Jersey Pinelands Curling club is excited to be hosting the USCA Arena National Championships for the second time! It is a great honor for our young club,” said Ryan Adamson, president, Jersey Pinelands Curling Club. “We hope that this event will build more interest in the sport of curling in the Delaware Valley. The success of our U.S. men’s Olympic team in 2018 has sparked the curiosity of many people in our area, and most often arena curling is one’s first taste of curling. This event will show that arena curlers are competitive in the sport and that there is a larger curling community out there.
