Team USA named for 2019 World Wheelchair Championship


(STEVENS POINT, Wis.) – Team USA for the upcoming World Wheelchair Championship has officially been named and features two of the 2018 Paralympic team members.


The team will be led by 2018 Paralympian Steve Emt (Hebron, Conn.) along with fellow Paralympian Meghan Lino (East Falmouth, Mass.), Matthew Thums (Wausau, Wis.), Pam Wilson (Westminster, Colo.), and David Samsa (Suamico, Wis.). The athletes were selected after a team camp and competition over the weekend in Utica, N.Y.


The 2019 World Wheelchair Championship will take place March 3-10 in Stirling, Scotland. This will be the first world championship experience for Thums, Wilson and Samsa. Emt, 48, has competed in three world championships as well as the recent Paralympic Winter Games. Lino, 34, has been a part of Team USA at two world championships and two Paralympic Games (2018, 2014).
