Sinclair rink captures WCT event title

(STEVENS POINT, Wis.) – USA’s Jamie Sinclair rink turned in another solid performance on the World Curling Tour – this time an undefeated venture that crowned them champions of the AMJ Campbell Shorty Jenkins Classic in Cornwall, Ontario.

Sinclair (St. Paul, Minn.) and her team of Alex Carlson (St. Paul, Minn.), Vicky Persinger (Fairbanks, Alaska), and Monica Walker (St. Paul, Minn.) went 6-0 to capture their first World Curling Tour (WCT) event title of the season. The U.S. team defeated Ontario’s Krista McCarville rink, 6-5, in the championship final on Sunday.

Sinclair’s team is currently ranked No. 17 on the Tour list, which will be updated on Wednesday and move the team up.

Andrew Stopera’s Junior High Performance Program team also had another strong showing over the weekend. Coming off of an event title win last week, the Stopera rink had a semifinal finish at the Stu Sells Junior Men’s Tankard in Toronto. Stopera (Briarcliff Manor, N.Y.) and teammates Luc Violette (Lake Stevens, Wash.), Ben Richardson (Issaquah, Wash.), Graem Fenson (Bemidji, Minn.), and Caleb Clawson (Clarksville, Md.) finished 3-3 overall.

Three other U.S. teams were competing at the Shorty Jenkins but did not reach the playoffs – the Cory Christensen (2-2), John Shuster (2-3), and Craig Brown (0-5) rinks.

The Nina Roth rink returns to Tour competition this weekend at the Colonial Square Ladies Classic in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.

Results for U.S. HPP teams will be posted each week at
