Get To Know Team Roth
This is feature #4 in a series meeting the teams competing in the 2018 U.S. Olympic Team Trials for Curling. Team Nina Roth is led by veteran skip and two-time national champion Nina Roth (McFarland, Wis.). Team Roth is currently ranked No. 10 on the World Curling Tour. They are coached by Al Hackner.
Skip Nina Roth, 29, started her senior career as a third for Team Erika Brown. Roth is looking to make her first Olympic Team. The registered nurse from McFarland, Wisc. will be competing in her second Olympic Trials after finishing fourth in 2010. Since starting curling in 1998, Roth has garnered an impressive history as you can read in her athlete bio.
Vice skip Tabitha Peterson, 28, St. Paul, Minn., will be competing in her second Olympic Trials after finishing 2nd in 2014. The University of Minnesota alumnus was the silver medalist at the U.S. National Championships in 2017 and won the title in 2012. Peterson, a pharmacist, also won the bronze medal at the 2016 World Mixed Doubles Championships. To learn more about Peterson, click here.
Aileen Geving, 30, plays second for Team Roth and is looking to make her first Olympic Team after competing at Trials in 2006, 2010 and 2014. The second was 2nd at the U.S. National Championships in 2016 and 2017. An account executive at March & McLennan Agency, Geving is a graduate of the University of Minnesota-Duluth. Lead Becca Hamilton, 27, McFarland Wis., is the youngest on Team Roth and newest to the sport. Hamilton is coming off a great season after being named USA Curling Female Athlete of the Year for 2017 and representing the U.S. at two world championship events.
