Keyshawn Davis vs. Enrico Lacruz/NED
Davis enters these Olympics as the 12th ranked boxer in the Boxing Task Force (BTF) rankings following his two silver medal performances at the 2019 Pan American Games and 2019 Elite Men’s World Championships. The lightweight, who is also 3-0 as a professional, will make his debut against 19th ranked Enrico Lacruz of the Netherlands, who finished 9th at the 2016 Rio Olympics, as well as competed at three Elite Men’s World Championships, where his highest finish was 9th. Lacruz qualified to these Olympics with a fifth-place finish at the European Qualifier.
Virginia Fuchs vs. Svetlana Soluianova/RUS
Fuchs starts her Olympic Games with a familiar foe in Russia’s Svetlana Soluianova. The two boxers met earlier this year at the 2021 Boxam Tournament, with Soluianova winning in the finals by a 3-2 decision. Fuchs comes into Tokyo as the 22nd ranked boxer, while Soluianova is ranked 15th, however, Fuchs will have experience on her side, that includes a bronze medal at the 2018 Elite Women’s World Championships and a silver medal at the 2019 Pan American Games. Soluianova qualified to Tokyo with a sixth-place finish at the European Qualifier, while Fuchs earned her ticket to compete by her being the second-highest ranked boxer from the Americas.
