Training Camp Underway in Colorado Springs

Over the weekend, USA Boxing’s Olympic Qualification Team members, as well as 11 training partners, returned to Colorado Springs, Colo. for a 16-day training camp to prepare for Team USA’s return to international competition next month in Europe. A full camp roster can be seen below.

Following the training camp, a Team USA delegation will travel to Schwerin, Germany (Sept. 24-Oct. 13)  and Paris, France (Oct. 18-26) for multi nation training camps to prepare for the Cologne World Cup in Cologne, Germany (Oct. 14-17) and the Alexis Vastine Tournament in Nantes, France (Oct. 27-30).  A complete competition roster will be released prior to the start of the competitions.

USA Boxing Head Coach Billy Walsh (Colorado Springs, Colo.) and National Strength and Conditioning Coach Jose Polanco (Colorado Springs, Colo.) will once again lead the training camp, which is set to take place at both the Hotel Elegante and United States Olympics and Paralympic Training Center. Tim Back (Cincinnati, Ohio), Marc Gargaro (Newton, Mass.), Joe Guzman (Buckeye, Ariz.), Christine Lopez (Rowlett, Texas) and Jeff Mays (San Antonio, Texas) will serve as assistant coaches throughout the training camp in Colorado Springs and international camps and tournaments.
