Team USA learned their path to gold at the 2020 Boxam Tournament in Castellón, Spain today during the official draw, which kicked off the first international tournament since the COVID-19 pandemic.
A total of 69 boxers from 11 different countries will take part in this week’s tournament, which begins tomorrow morning at 10:00 am EST, and will run until Saturday, Oct. 10.
Bruce Carrington (Brooklyn, N.Y.), Joseph Hicks (Grand Rapids, Mich.), Delante Johnson (Cleveland, Ohio) and Abraham Perez (Albuquerque, N.M.) will be the first four Americans to step into tomorrow, with their teammates beginning in the coming days.
Team USA’s National Head Coach Billy Walsh (Colorado Springs, Colo.) and National Strength and Conditioning Coach Jose Polanco (Colorado Springs, Colo.) will be leading the team throughout the tournament, along with assistant coaches Tim Back (Cincinnati, Ohio), Marc Gargaro (Newton, Mass.), Joe Guzman (Buckeye, Ariz.), Christine Lopez (Rowlett, Texas) and Jeff Mays (San Antonio, Texas).
