2020 Reno Events Postponed

March 10, 2020, 10:48 a.m. (ET)

USA Boxing has announced this morning that the 2020 Western Qualifier, Masters National Championships, Coaching Clinics and LBC Workshop in Reno, Nev. is postponed due to the COVID-19 virus, also known as coronavirus.

USA Boxing has monitored the situation of the virus, consulted with the USA Boxing Medical Commission and all believe that the most prudent action for the health and safety of our members would be to reschedule the event. It has also been noted that the CDC has raised the travel warning to level 3, Avoid Nonessential Travel.

A resolution is currently being discussed with the host city and USA Boxing National Office, and more information will be released in the future. All registrations for the event have been put on hold until an alternative has been announced.

Local events at this time will move forward as planned, and USA Boxing will be communicating mitigation and protective strategies to the LBCs for those events over the next few days.

We understand that this decision places and unfortunate burden on the members of USA Boxing, and that it was not taken lightly, but this was done in the best interests of everyone’s health and wellbeing.

The National Office was hard at work planning these multiple events in Reno, and we will continue to develop alternate competition opportunities, training clinics and workshops for everyone.
