2019 Pan American Games bronze medalists Richard Torrez Jr. (Tulare, Calif.) won the U.S. Olympic Team Trials for Boxing box-off against Jeremiah Milton (Tulsa, Okla.) to advance to the final Olympic Qualification Team Selection Process.
Torrez Jr., who is returning to the ring since the Elite World Championships, put on a dominating performance, including causing the referee to give an eight count in the final round, to take all five judges’ cards on his way to victory.
Training camp will continue tomorrow with the international federations arriving into Olympic City USA with the remaining 25 boxers until Jan. 17, when Team USA will depart for the Strandja Tournament in Bulgaria.
