Keyshawn Davis Secures Medal for Team USA at 2019 Elite World Championships

Keyshawn Davis (Norfolk, Va.) continued his dominate performance to advance to the medal rounds at the 2019 Elite World Championships in Ekaterinburg, Russia.

Davis took all five judges’ cards over Sofiane Oumiha, 2017 World Champion and 2016 Olympic silver medalist, from France, to advance to the semifinal bout against Armenian Hovhannes Bachkov on Thursday. Backhov is a two-time European Champion and 2017 World Championship bronze medalists. 

With this win, Davis is guaranteed at least a bronze medal at his World Championships debut.

The second American to step into the ring, Richard Torrez Jr. (Tulare, Calif.), had his fight stopped due to knockout and will leave these World Championships with a top 8 finish.
