Oberlton Falls Short in World Championships Debut

Light heavyweight Atif Oberlton (Philadelphia, Pa.) fell short in his World Championships debut today in Ekaterinburg, Russia.

Oberlton faced a tough opponent in Umar Dzambekov of Austria, but was not able to move on to the next round after only earning 2 judges’ cards versus Dzambekov taking three.

Team USA will have two boxers step into the ring tomorrow, Delante Johnson (Cleveland, Ohio) and Richard Torrez Jr. (Tulare, Calif.) Johnson will go head-to-head against Italian Gianluigi Malanga in the first session of the day, while Torrez boxes Kumar Satish of India in the evening session.
