Three Boxers Advance to Finals; Tellez Earns Bronze on Third Day of Silesian Championships

The young American team went 3-1 on the third day of boxing from the 2019 Silesian Women’s Championships in Gliwice, Poland, advancing three boxers to the finals and earning their first bronze medal of the tournament.

Junior lightweight Ruby Navarro (Mission, Texas) picked up her second win of the tournament by unanimous decision over Poland’s Rebeka Dobos to advance to her first international final, while youth lightweight Nashay Bradford (Toledo, Ohio) made an impressive international debut, taking all five judges cards over Katarzyna Skrzypkowska of Poland to advance to her divisions championship bout.

The third Team USA victory came way by another unanimous decision. Jasmin Fernandez (Splendora, Texas) closed out the day with her own victory over Joanna Tyras of Poland in her international debut. Fernandez will compete in the finals later this week.

Junior Reina Tellez (San Antonio, Texas) started the day for USA Boxing against Poland’s Julia Szeremeta. Tellez was not able to take the judges card in a 3-2 split decision over Szeremeta, however, she leaves Poland with a bronze medal, her first international medal.
