Team USA Falls Short on First Day of 2019 Silesian Women's Championships

Team USA fell short of taking their first victory on the first day of the 14th annual Silesian Women’s Championships in Gliwice, Poland.

2018 USA Boxing Junior Open Champion Jadalie Medeiros (Dothan, Ala.) could not take the judges cards against Poland’s Alexas Kubicki, who took the unanimous decision over the American light flyweight.

Six more boxers will make their international debut tomorrow, Kaheil Mishoe-Elliott (Piscataway, N.J.), Kayla Gomez (El Paso, Texas), Sierra Martinez (North Providence, R.I.), Priscilla Medina (Los Angeles, Calif.), Ruby Navarro (Mission, Texas) and Shera Mae Patricio (Waianaea, Hawaii).

The young American team is being guided throughout the tournament by USA Boxing National Junior and Youth Head Coach Augie Sanchez (Las Vegas, Nev.), as well as assistant coaches Alexander Duque (New York, N.Y.), Edward Ochoa Jr. (Gilbert, Ariz.), Nora Trujillo (Richmond, Texas) and Chadrick Wigle (Colorado Springs, Colo.).
