Fuchs and Isley to Depart Tomorrow for Olympic Test Event

Team USA Captain and 2019 Pan American Games silver medalist Virginia Fuchs (Houston, Texas) and 2019 Pan American Games bronze medalist Troy Isley (Alexandria, Va.) will depart tomorrow from Colorado Spring, Colo. to Tokyo, Japan to compete at the Olympic Test Event.

The three-day tournament, which begins Oct. 29, will take place at the Kokugikan Arena, which will host boxing at next year’s Olympic Games. Fuchs will be competing in her second Olympic Test Event, as she won the flyweight division in Rio, while Isley will be boxing in his first. 

The two boxers will be guided by National Head Coach Billy Walsh (Colorado Springs, Colo.) and National Assistant Coach Kay Koroma (Colorado Springs, Colo.) throughout the three-day tournament. Other staff members attending the event are High Performance Director Matt Johnson (Colorado Springs, Colo.) Strength & Conditioning Coach Jose Polanco (Colorado Springs, Colo.), as well as Dr. Steven Isono (Oakland, Calif.).
