Rashida Ellis (Lynn, Mass.) and Mikiah Kreps (Niagara Falls, N.Y.) closed out their first World Championships run this morning with a bronze medal.

Ellis met a familiar foe, Beatriz Iasmin Ferreira of Brazil, in today’s semifinal bout, but fell short in advancing to the finals. This marks her first World Championships medal.

Kreps impressive international debut came to an end today after a close 3-2 decision loss against Caroline Cruveillier of France. Her bronze medal is the bantamweights first international medal.

Danielle Perkins (Houston, Texas) dominated Katsiaryna Kavaleva of Belarus, causing the referee to stop the bout in the second round and Perkins to advance to tomorrow’s gold medal bout. Perkins will face China’s Xiaoli Yang in her first World Championships final.
