Team USA Clinches 3 Medals at 2019 Women’s World Championships

The American team clinched three medals after today’s performance at the 2019 Women’s Elite World Championships in Ulan Ude, Russia.

2018 Elite Women’s World Championships bronze medalists Danielle Perkins (Houston, Texas) guaranteed herself her second World Championship medal after putting on a dominating performance against Kristina Tkacheva of Russia. Perkins will compete in her semifinal bout against Katsiaryna Kavaleva on Saturday, Oct. 12. 

Rashida Ellis and Mikiah Kreps (Niagara Falls, N.Y.) continued their impressive World Championship debuts. Kreps took a 4-1 decision over Kazakhstan’s Dina Zholaman, while Ellis defeated the second-seeded Sudaporn Seesondee of Thailand, 4-1. 

Four other Americans, Ravven Brown (San Antonio, Texas) Krystal Dixon (New Rochelle, N.Y.), Naomi Graham (Colorado Springs, Colo.) and Oshae Jones (Toledo, Ohio), stepped into the ring today, but fell short of advancing to the medal rounds, however, leave these World Championships with a top eight finish.
