Oct. 07, 2019, 11:03 p.m. (ET)
The second day of boxing at the 2019 Eastern Elite Qualifier & Regional Open in Columbus, Ohio saw over 100 elite boxers’ step into the ring, with hopes keeping their journey to qualifying to the 2020 U.S. Olympic Team Trials for Boxing alive.

Seven of the eight Olympic weight classes competed tonight, with many being highly contested bouts that excited the crowded Greater Columbus Convention Center in Columbus, Ohio.

Boxing will continue tomorrow with two sessions. The noon session will be the first rounds for the prep divisions, as they look to compete for national rankings points. The evening session will feature the first bouts for youth males, as well as the youth females and elite females. Numerous elite male divisions will have a quick return to the ring following victories tonight. All brackets and bout sheets can be found here.

This year’s tournament features over 800 boxers from across the nation, aged 8-40, in the third national tournament of the year for USA Boxing. This also is the third Trials qualifying event for the elite division. The finalists in the 13 Olympic weight classes will join the finalists from the 2018 USA Boxing Elite National Championships and the 2019 Western Elite Qualifier, as well as the finalists in next month’s Last Chance Qualifier this December in Lake Charles, La.
