Jones and Kreps Advance at 2019 World Championships

Team USA had a successful second day of competition at the 2019 Elite Women’s World Championships, going 2-0, in Ulan Ude, Russia.

2018 Elite National Champion Mikiah Kreps (Niagara Falls, N.Y.) made her international debut against Uzbekistan’s Ferangiz Khoshimova. Kreps took all five judges’ cards to advance to next Wednesday’s second preliminary bout against Kariina Tazabekova of Russia.

Oshae Jones
(Toledo, Ohio) continued her winning ways of 2019 by putting on an impressive performance in her opening bout. Jones won, 5-0, over Armenia’s Ani Hoysepyan. Jones, who is competing in her second World Championships, will return to the ring on Oct. 9 to face Dariga Shakimova of Kazakhstan.

The Americans will not have any boxers compete in tomorrow’s session. Rashida Ellis (Lynn, Mass.) will make her World Championships debut on Sunday against Panama’s Elisa Williams.
