2018 Eastern Elite Qualifier & Regional Open Championships Opens With Over 100 Bouts

Oct. 08, 2018, 10:50 p.m. (ET)

The 2018 Eastern Elite Qualifier & Regional Open Championships got underway at the Chattanooga Convention Center in Chattanooga, Tenn. with over 200 boxers stepping into the ring looking to continue to box another day in this national tournament.

This year’s tournament, which had the largest number of boxers signup to compete in USA Boxing national tournament history, is serving as the final opportunity for elite boxers to qualify to this year’s National Championships, as well as a ranking points tournament for all other divisions.

With the large turnout, five rings were used during the night which saw elite boxers fight in the majority of the bouts alongside a few junior, youth and prep divisions. The night was full of action, as numerous national title holders, high performance team members, as well as 2015 World Champion Lupe Gutierrez (Sacramento, Calif.) put on strong performances for the excited crowd.

Full results and photos of the event will be posted here shortly.

Boxing will continue tomorrow with two sessions, noon and 6:00 p.m., for all divisions contested at the tournament. You can follow all the action by attending the free tournament or watching on our live stream here.
