Fuchs and Graham Advance to Quarterfinals of 2018 World Championships

Team USA was back on track during the fifth day of competition at the 2018 Elite Women’s World Championships in New Delhi, India with two wins.


Virginia Fuchs (Houston, Texas) grabbed her third unanimous decision victory of these World Championships to advance to tomorrow’s quarterfinal bouts. Fuchs win over Euna Jang of Korea will pit her against Chang Yuan of China. This will be the second matchup between the two flyweights, as they stepping into the ring today at last year’s Strandja Tournament quarterfinals, which Fuchs came out victorious by unanimous decision.


Middleweight Naomi Graham’s (Colorado Springs, Colo.) wait to return to the World Championships stage came to an end today with a powerful performance over Russian Darima Sanddokova, causing the referee to stop the bout in the second round. Graham will return for her quarterfinal bout against Sarah Alexandra Scheurich of Germany.


Krystal Dixon (New Rochelle, N.Y.) and Danielle Perkins (Houston, Texas) will make their 2018 World Championships debut alongside Fuch and Graham. Dixon will face Lina Wang of China, while Perkins steps into the ring against Lazzat Kunggeiba Yeva of Kazakhstan.
