The 2019 edition of USA Boxing’s National Junior Olympics, Prep Nationals and Youth Open will head to Madison, Wisc., June 22-29.

The next generation of boxers will step into the ring at the Madison Marriott West Hotel and Conference Center for their shot at a title at one of USA Boxing’s most prestigious national tournaments.

“We are thrilled to welcome this group of young boxers to Middleton for the area’s first USA Boxing National Championship event,” said Jamie Patrick, Vice President of the Madison Area Sports Commission (MASC). “This tournament has featured some of boxing’s all-time greats, and this will be a fantastic opportunity for the greater Madison community to see the sport’s up-and-coming stars in action.”

"We're very excited to host these talented athletes in the Good Neighbor City in 2019," said Julie K. Peterman, CMP, Middleton's Director of Tourism. "The city has a long history of providing hospitality to youth teams, and we wish them all the best in their competitions.”

This will be the 48th annual National Junior Olympics and the first time the event has been held in Wisconsin.  “When looking for hosts for our national tournaments, we consider numerous factors, such as geographical location, cost and ease of travel for our membership, as well as eagerness of the city to welcome our sport,” stated Taryn Cass, USA Boxing Operations and Events Coordinator. “I believe that Middleton/Madison hit the nose on each of these, and we are very excited to watch it play out in June 2019.”

“I am thrilled with the selection of Madison for our 48th  Annual Junior Olympic Tournament which will include the Prep Nationals and the Youth Open,” stated Deborah Homes, National Junior Olympics Coordinator. “USA Boxing has implemented positive and exciting changes to the Junior Olympic tournament. The timely announcement and excellent choice of Madison enables Regions, athletes and coaches ample time to prepare for what I am certain will be a memorable and successful event.”

The 2019 tournament will also mark the fifth year the Prep National Championships have been a part of the Junior Olympics and the fourth year the Youth Open has been contested alongside this tournament.
