Team USA Picks Up Three Wins on Second Day of 2018 Feliks Stamm Tournament

The three male boxers to step into the ring on the second day of the 2018 Feliks Stamm Tournament in Warsaw, Poland came away victorious.

Stephen Acosta (Dallas, Texas) and Michael Angeletti (Spring, Texas) made impressive international debuts, with both taking their first international win. Acosta took a split decision victory over Sri Lanka’s Ranasinghe Thiwanka, while Angeletti took all five judges cards over Yahya Saleh Al-Rafiq of Qatar.

2017 World Championship silver medalist Duke Ragan (Cincinnati, Ohio) took his second win of the tournament. His split decision victory over Mongolian Munk Tsagaanbaa.

Both American female boxers, Guadelupe Gutierrez (Sacramento, Calif.) and Kristyn Juarez (Los Angeles, Calif.), fell short of advancing to the next round.

Team USA has six members stepping into the ring tomorrow, including 2017 World Championship bronze medalist Freudis Rojas (Las Vegas, Nev.).

This year’s tournament has brought 146 boxers from 21 different countries looking to take gold. National Team Assistant Coach Kay Koroma (Colorado Springs, Colo.) is leading the American delegation, while Tim Back (Cincinnati, Ohio), Jeff Mays (San Antonio, Texas) and Robert Pagan (Brooklyn, N.Y.) are assisting him. Jess Luscinski (Colorado Springs, Colo.) is serving as Team Manager.
