Day 2 of 2018 National Junior Olympics Brings Boxers on Step Closer to Finals

June 27, 2018, 9:26 p.m. (ET)

The second day of this year’s National Junior Olympics, Prep Nationals and Youth Open at the Charleston Civic Center in Charleston, W.Va. brought the original field of over 650 boxers down by over half, as we came one day closer to the start of the championship bouts.

The noon session was another day full of the younger age divisions in this year's tournament. This marked the fourth year the Prep age groups have had the opportunity to box at the national stage, and they did not disappoint the crowd. They will return to the ring tomorrow for either their championship bouts or their quarterfinal bouts.

The exciting bouts continued into the evening session, which featured numerous members of Team USA’s junior and youth high performance team members. The session also served as the women’s semifinal bouts.

Tomorrow’s boxing will be highlighted by the female championship bouts for all their respective age divisions. Both sessions will feature finals, and will begin again at noon before closing the day during the 6:00 p.m. session.
