Junior Male High Performance Camp Underway

Feb. 05, 2018, 4:43 p.m. (ET)

12 members of the junior male high performance squad began a week-long training camp at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colo. today. The camp, which runs until Feb. 11, is one of two training camps the junior team will attend this year.

Under the guidance of newly appointed USA Boxing’s National Junior and Youth Coach Augie Sanchez (Las Vegas, Nev.), the team will take part in multiple workouts a day, including sparring sessions, technical work and strength and conditioning. Ra’sheen Ali (Cleveland, Ohio) and Kevin Benford (Cincinnati, Ohio) are assisting Coach Sanchez during the camp.

The training camp is also being used as the first preparation camp for the Heydar Aliyev Junior Cup taking place later this year in Azerbaijan.
