13 Prep Female Champions Crowned; Elite boxers get one step closer to Saturday's Finals

The third day of the 2018 USA Boxing Elite and Youth National Championships & Junior and Prep Open in Salt Lake City, Utah was filled with excitement and upsets.

The day started the junior and prep male semifinal bouts to solidify what boxers will step into the ring tomorrow looking to close out 2018 with a National Championships. The noon session closed with 13 prep female boxers being crowned champions.

The evening session started with the recognition of the women who represented Team USA at the Elite Women’s World Championships last month in New Delhi, India before the exciting action tonight.

The three medalists from the 2017 Elite Men’s World Championships, Troy Isley (Alexandra, Va.), Duke Ragan (Cincinnati, Ohio) and Freudis Rojas Jr. (Las Vegas, Nev.) picked up wins to advance to the next round. Isley and Ragan will return to the ring in Saturday’s finale, while Rojas will box in his semifinal bout tomorrow.

Boxing will return tomorrow for one noon session.
