Position: Director of Digital Media and Communications
Summary: The Director of Digital Media and Communications is responsible for developing, planning, and implementing the digital content, communications, marketing and public relations strategies for the organization. Key areas of responsibility include internal and external communications, public affairs, social media strategy, content creation, sponsorship fulfillment, brand management, and event hospitality.

 

USA Bobsled/Skeleton (USABS) is dedicated to providing an athlete-focused training environment, which is built on the development of the whole athlete. Duties & Responsibilities
1. Create a culture of passion, teamwork, support, innovation, transparency, and clear communication throughout all aspects of USABS
2. Provide a safe, positive and ethical environment for all athletes, coaches, and staff members
3. Inspire and support athletes in their pursuit of excellence through communication, actions, and decision-making
4. Initiate, create, and implement the communications, digital media, marketing, and branding strategy across the organization and serve as organization’s spokesperson by developing key messages with the CEO
5. Create and implement a social media strategy for the organization and posting engaging content on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok, and future social media platforms
6. Write and disseminate press releases for all national and international events with U.S. athlete participants, including World Cup, Intercontinental Cup, European Cup, North American Cup, Para Sport, USA Bobsled/Skeleton Push Championships and National Team Trials
7. In collaboration with the Director of Partner and Sponsor Development, ensure sponsorship fulfillment through press release announcements, branding on team apparel and equipment, social media posts, hospitality at events, photo and/or video content, and testimonials
8. Create content and manage the USABS website, including updating athlete bios and headshots, posting press releases, and uploading documents such as criteria, SafeSport information, waivers, and organization policies
9. Manage hospitality for VIP guests at U.S. World Cup events with the Director of Partner and Sponsor Development, including preparing gift bags, creating daily itineraries, managing passenger rides, coordinating athlete meet-and-greets, and organizing tickets for friends and family
10. Develop strong relationships with key media members and organizations to secure impactful
media coverage
11. Serve as the press officer at the Winter Olympic Games and collaborate with venue press manager at U.S. World Cup events to manage athlete mixed zone
12. Coordinate photographers and videographers to assist with capturing content for sponsorship fulfillment needs, athlete head shots, sport promotion and social media posts
13. Manage organization-owned domains and DNS settings through GoDaddy for URL redirects and G-Suite email access
14. Collaborate with the Director of Partner and Sponsor Development and the Operations Coordinator to coordinate team apparel for athletes, coaches and staff
15. Review and enforce the USA Bobsled/Skeleton Athlete Marketing Agreement with the CEO and Director of Partner and Sponsor Development
16. Collaborate with Director of Partner and Sponsor Development on partner touch points each season, including thank you cards, holiday gifts, signed photos, emails, and phone calls
17. Collaborate with the Director of Sport Performance and the coaches on a recruitment plan to promote the sports through traditional and online media
18. Support the Hall of Fame Committee by writing bios, securing photos, ordering plaques, managing invitations and creating run of show for the Hall of Fame induction
19. Oversee the camera system for the live feed to social media for national events, such as USA Bobsled/Skeleton Push Championships and National Team Trials 

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, PR or related field
  • Master’s degree preferred
  • 5+ years of experience in a communications or digital media role
  • 3+ years of experience managing social media channels for an organization
  • Successful background check and SafeSport Training required

Hours of Work: The nature of the position demands flexible hours until work is completed to meet the requirements, including but not limited to working extended hours, evenings, and weekends, particularly in-season and during off-season camps. Candidates must be willing and able to travel

Position: Skeleton Head Coach of Performance
Summary: The Skeleton Head Coach of Performance is responsible for providing coaching support on and off the track to ensure optimal performance for USABS performance athletes. This support includes domestic programs and international competitions, such as World Cup competitions, World Championships and Olympic Games. The Skeleton Head Coach of Performance will also work as part of the collaborative skeleton coaching team guided by the skeleton program strategy and progression pathway.

Roles and Responsibilities
1. Create a culture of passion, teamwork, support, innovation, transparency, and clear communication throughout all aspects of USABS
2. Provide a safe, positive, and ethical environment for all athletes, coaches, and staff members and create and maintain the performance program environment
3. Inspire and support athletes in their pursuit of excellence through verbal communication, actions, and decision-making
4. Serve as a lead skeleton coach on the World Cup tour, World Championships and Olympic Games
5. Provide technical coaching, and feedback to skeleton athletes during training and competition that aligns with the coaches’ technical plans, including track preparation, track walks, video review and debriefs
6. Meet with individual athletes throughout the year to review individual and team goals, progress, strengths and areas of necessary improvements, and provides timely feedback to athletes regarding performance
7. Create and maintain Individual Athlete Plans (IAP) for performance athletes that align within the Athlete Planning Profile (APP) and collaborate with performance services for refined integration
8. Support the Director of Skeleton Programs through the design and execution of a skeleton program, including recruitment, development and performance at all levels
9. May provide support at other international competitions, such as NAC, EC, and ICC when necessary
10. In collaboration with the Director of Skeleton Programs, ensure that all skeleton events, competitions, training camps and programs are properly staffed
11. Create and execute a skeleton equipment and technology plan for national team members which includes sleds, runners, etc., manage equipment inventory, preparation and distribution, and communicate with equipment partners, all in collaboration Director of Sport Performance, Director of Skeleton Programs and other coaches
12. In collaboration with Director of Skeleton Programs develop and manage off-season schedule, including national team camps, team trials, etc. and provide off-season coaching and support in Lake Placid
13. Participate in skeleton and development staff meetings to discuss philosophies, review alignment, determine strategies, and identify priorities
14. In partnership with the Selection Committee, make final determinations of athletes to represent the United States in National Team events
15. Develop and maintain positive working partnerships with the USOPC, IBSF, UOP and ORDA
16. Coordinate all external communications with the Director of Marketing & Communications
17. Other responsibilities and duties as necessary

Employment Status: Permanent, Full-time Position
Hours of Work: The nature of the position demands flexible hours until work is completed to meet the requirements, including but not limited to working extended hours, evenings, and weekends, particularly in-season and during off-season camps. Candidates must be willing and able to travel 120+ days per year, on the IBSF World Cup tour and to related bobsled and skeleton events.
