SKELETON: Junior Bobsled and Skeleton World Championships in Igls, Austria Feb. 8-10

IGLS, Austria- The U.S. Bobsled and Skeleton Team will send 12 athletes to contest for the Junior World Championship title in Igls, Austria from Friday, Feb. 8- Sunday, Feb. 10. The small mountain village of Igls hosted two Olympic Winter Games in 1964 and 1976, and built one of the first refrigerated bobsled tracks in the world. Women's and men's skeleton will compete on Friday, Feb. 8 at 9 am EST. Competing for the women will be World Cup athlete Annie O'Shea (Port Jefferson Station, N.Y.) and Intercontinental Cup athletes Cassie Revelli (Highland, Utah) and Jessica Palmer (Roy, Utah). Intercontinental Cup Champion Matt Antoine (Prairie du Chien, Wisc.) will battle the Germans for the title alongside teammate John Daly (Smithtown, N.Y.) in men's skeleton. Women's bobsled will race this Saturday, Feb. 9 at 4 am EST. 2007 America's Cup Champion Jamia Jackson (Lake City, Fla.), who made her World Cup debut this year, will represent the U.S. with brakewoman Emily Azevedo (Chico, Calif.). John Napier (Lake Placid, N.Y.) will compete in the men's two-man bobsled World Cup competition in Winterberg, Germany on Saturday, Feb. 9 before departing for Igls to compete in the Jr. World Championship four-man bobsled race on Sunday, Feb. 10 at 4 am EST. Napier will be joined by Jacob Miller (Waterford, Va.), Justin Olsen (San Antonio, Texas) and Chris Fogt (Orem, Utah) on his quest for the title.
