Lake Placid, N.Y. (May 24, 2022) – USA Bobsled/Skeleton (USABS) is proud to announce that Lincoln Electric has extended its agreement as an Official Supplier for the team through June 2026.

"Our sleds are going through forces similar to fighter jet pilots, so we need to make sure that these sleds hold up so our athletes can get to the bottom safely,” said USA Bobsled Driving Coach and 2002 Olympic Bronze Medalist Brian Shimer. “Lincoln Electric has provided the equipment and the expertise that we need as a nation to go out there and compete at the highest level."

Proudly based in Cleveland, Lincoln Electric is the world leader in the design, development and manufacturing of arc welding products, automated joining, assembly and cutting systems, plasma and oxy-fuel cutting equipment and has a leading global position in brazing and soldering alloys. Lincoln Electric provides vital equipment to the team to use while maintaining and building equipment.

“We are so excited that Lincoln Electric has extended their agreement with the team through the next quadrennial,” said USABS Director of Partner & Sponsor Development Michelle Knous. “One of the key components of success for our team is partners that are committed to helping our athletes succeed. By extending our agreement, Lincoln Electric has proven they are dedicated to the team and invested in our results.”

Technology and Equipment Lead Marc Van Den Berg primarily uses Lincoln Electric welders to build the chassis of the bobsled in the team garage in Lake Placid. Lincoln Electric also provided a portable welder that the team can take on the road with them when competing internationally, and the equipment has been vital to making necessary repairs mid-season. As a result, the team never has to miss a training run or competition because they always have equipment ready to go.

“At Lincoln Electric, we invest in innovation and performance, much like what our nation’s athletes deliver in every competition,” says Lincoln Electric Vice President of Marketing Bruce Chantry. “By combining forces with the USABS, we are proud to be able to help the USA Bobsled team continue to drive excellence at every level and bring home the gold.”
