2018-2019 USA Skeleton National Team announced



LAKE PLACID, N.Y.(Oct. 26, 2018)Eleven athletes were named to the USA Skeleton National Team tonight. Two women and three men have earned the right to compete on the World Cup tour after accumulating the highest number of points in a three-race selection series in Lake Placid. 

“This was a very competitive set of races and the determination, competitive drive and passion these athletes have was on full display,” said USABS CEO Darrin Steele. “It was evident that everyone was hungry to perform and we have high expectations for the season.”

The two women representing the U.S. on the World Cup team are USA-1 Savannah Graybill (Denver, Pa.) and USA-2 Kendall Wesenberg (Modesto, Calif.).

The three men’s athletes that will compete on the World Cup circuit are USA-1 Kyle Brown (Concord, N.H.), USA-2 Austin Florian (Southington, Conn.) and USA-3 Greg West (Springfield, Mo.).

Matt Antoine (Prairie du Chien, Wis.) finished selection races as the top ranked men’s athlete, but announced his retirement before his final run earlier today. Antoine will transition into a coaching career with the U.S. team.

The World Cup kicks off in Sigulda, Latvia from Dec. 3-9. The seventh competition of the World Cup tour will be in Lake Placid from Feb. 11-16 before the premiere event of the season, World Championships, in Whistler, Canada from Feb. 25-March 10.

The next three ranked women’s and men’s athletes were named to the Intercontinental Cup team. The women selected are USA-3 Megan Henry (Roxbury, Conn.), USA-4 Veronica Day (Vienna, Va.) and USA-5 Sam Culiver (Scottsdale, Ariz.). 

The three men’s athletes selected to compete on the Intercontinental Cup tour are USA-4 Nathan Crumpton (Park City, Utah), USA-5 Mike Rogals (Orwell, Vt.) and USA-6Steven Garbett (Colorado Springs, Colo.).

The season-opening Intercontinental Cup race will be in Innsbruck, Austria from Nov. 11-16. The Intercontinental Cup will make two stops on home ice: Park City, Utah from Jan. 14-19 and Lake Placid from Jan. 21-25.
